The tentative schedule and weekly reading assignment for GO 571 are presented in the below. Lectures are provided in web-page format may be accessed using your class password in Canvas . Weekly homework assignments and instructions are given at the end of each lecture.

On-campus students will meet twice a week for an introduction to the material and homework problem sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:00-12:00AM in Science Hall Rm 131. Homework is due each Thursday at 5 PM

*+'s and –'s will be assigned in special borderline cases to be determined based on class attendance (for on campus students), participation in discussions (via email correspondence for distance learners), and demonstrated efforts to excel in the class.

Quizes: Lecture rediness quizes will be completed each week online and are due on Mondays at 8 AM.They will consist of multiple choice questions that are based on the weekly reading assignments.

**Exams will be similar in scope to the homework problems and may include some short-answer essay questions. You may be tested on materials presented on homework assignments in addition to all topics discussed in lectures and reading assignments.

- To understand basic hydrogeologic principles and their application to to problems of environmental and water resource significance.

- To understand and identify the sources and movement of groundwater, surface water, and soil environments.

- To understand the hydrochemisty of natural ground-water, surface water, and soil environments.

- To apply analytical solutions to problems of groundwater movement.

- To construct groundwater flow and transport models using semi-qualitative and spreadsheet methods

- To understand numerical methods to problems in contaminant movement and degradation in groundwater and soil water systems.
